Future Planning
A future plan is a guide for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to lead a good life as independently as possible. It can also help people with IDD reach their goals and dreams.
A future plan is important for all families, especially when a parent or caregiver is no longer able to support a person with IDD. Thinking about the future can be hard, but planning is possible and necessary. The Arc of El Paso can help you with future planning by using resources made available by The Arc of the United States through the Arc’s Center for Future Planning®, which has resources to help people with IDD and their families create future plans. Topics include:
- Finding a place to live
- Paying for things
- Making Decisions
- Getting a job
- Having friends and relationships
